ERIKSBERG DARK

Description - Based upon the European Oak in the Joker grade which is not openly offered as part of the range, the planks are first of all brushed before being smoked, then filled and finally oiled. The brushing process removes the softer wood within the surface grain to leave a texture, a process that usually happens naturally as wood is worn following years of use. Smoking is a process involving the heating of the wood which has the effect of both hardening the wood as well as changing its colour. Unlike colouring wood with stain or oil, the heating process changes the colour of the wood according to how much tannin is contained within each cell. Therefore following this process, the shade within each plank can be quite varied. Again, this is an effect achieved after many years of the wood being exposed to the environment. With the Joker grade the splits and massive knotting occur regularly throughout the planks, which are further highlighted by being filled with black wood putty. Finally the surface has been through an oiling process using natural oil to ensure the black filler is still distinctive within the knots and splits. The combined process gives this wonderful species a less dramatic effect compared to that of the standard Eriksberg plank, however the Eriksberg looks distinctively older.

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Plank dimensions - 14mm depth x 195mm width x 2390mm length.

Construction - 4mm top layer of the species selected  /  8mm middle layer of Swedish Spruce forming the Svedlock locking system  /  2mm back layer of Swedish Spruce.  Smallest of mico-bevels on the long sides and square edge on the end edges providing a seamless finish allowing no dirt to be trapped.

Pack Size - 2.8m². Packs contain a majority of full length planks, but to reduce waste and cost some part lengths can be included. These are required to stagger the end joints for greater installation strength.
