Wooden surfaces require a certain degree of protection, preferably with oil, hardwax oil or lacquer. At the factory, Berg & Berg finish their floors with naturally hardening oils from the Danish company Faxe, or with lacquer from the Swedish manufacturer Bona. Both companies are market leaders, and also offer perfectly customised products for care at home. Bona products are available for purchase in our accessories range.
Berg & Berg floors are treated with five coats of lacquer or matt lacquer which ensures long-lasting protection, but it doesn't affect the structure and porosity of the wood. The flooring is extremely hard-wearing and can be refurbished after years of intensive use.
Oak protected with Lacquer or Matt Lacquer
Naturally hardening, vegetable-based oil has been a tried and tested method of protecting wood for centuries. In contrast to industrial "UV oil" or wax-based products, this protection is not only applied to the surface but is polished deep into the wood fibres. In this way, Berg & Berg wood maintains its marvellous warmth and personality, in addition to being extremely hard-wearing.

It is no surprise then that naturally hardening oil is used to protect wood flooring at Copenhagen airport. Even though thousands of passengers pass through airport, each and every day, the floors appear almost as they did on the first day – despite many years of intense strain. By the way: all Berg & Berg oiled floors are produced according to environmental principles and have the Nature Plus seal of quality.
